Maruti-Suzuki has newly launched Baleno which is sell through new premium sales channel Nexa along with Swift, Honda has All New Jazz and Hyundai has Elite i20. All these three cars care rich in features, power, look and price. All three cars are available in both Petrol & Diesel engine options and I put together these cars face to face to find out which premium hatchback is perfect for you.

The Baleno length is around 3995 mm, Width 1745 mm & Height 1500 mm. The car has a wheelbase of 2520 mm, ground clearance of 170 mm, Boot space of 339 litre and kerb weight of 865-890 kg (Petrol), 960-985 Kg (Diesel).
Hyundai Elite i20
The Elite i20 length is around 3985 mm, Width 1734 mm & Height 1505 mm. The car has a wheelbase of 2570 mm, ground clearance of 170 mm, Boot space of 339 litre and kerb weight of 1066 kg (Petrol), 1222 Kg (Diesel).
Honda All New Jazz
The All New Jazz length is around 3955 mm, Width 1694 mm & Height 1544 mm. The car has a wheelbase of 2530 mm, ground clearance of 165 mm, Boot space of 339 litre and kerb weight of 1007-1044 kg (Petrol), 1130-1154 Kg (Diesel).
Winner
Maruti Suzuki Baleno did better here, It’s not only larger in length & width but also low in overall weight. Lighter weight means the car will get more power from the engine.

The Baleno is powered by 1197 cc 1.2L VVT engine which produces maximum power 84.30 PS @ 6000 RPM and maximum torque of 115 Nm @ 4000 RPM. The Engine is mated with 5-speed Manual Transmission. The Petrol engine gives a mileage of 21.4 kmpl.
Hyundai Elite i20
The Elite i20 is powered by 1.2 L Kappa Dual VTVT 1197cc Engine which produces maximum power of 83 PS @ 6000 RPM and maximum torque of 115 Nm @ 4000 RPM. The Engine is mated with a 5-speed transmission. The Petrol engine gives a mileage of 18.6 kmpl.
Honda All New Jazz
The All New Jazz is powered by iVTEC 1199cc Engine which produces maximum power of 90 PS @ 6000 RPM and maximum torque of 110 Nm @ 4000 RPM. The Engine is mated with 5-speed transmission. The Petrol engine gives a mileage of 18.4 kmpl.
Winner
DRAW! In Petrol Engine, All the cars have the similar engine. Baleno mileage is slightly better on paper but we’ll have to see the real result on the road. Elite i20 & Jazz did really good in real life.

Maruti-Suzuki Baleno
The Baleno is powered by 1248 cc 1.3L DDiS engine which produces maximum power 75 PS @ 4000 RPM and maximum torque of 190 Nm @ 2000 RPM. The Engine is mated with 5-speed Manual Transmission. The Diesel engine gives the mileage of 27.39 kmpl.
Hyundai Elite i20
The Elite i20 is powered by 1396 cc 1.4L U2 CRDi engine which produces maximum power 90 PS @ 4000 RPM and maximum torque of 220 Nm @ 1500-2750 RPM. The Engine is mated with 6-speed Manual Transmission. The Diesel engine gives the mileage of 22.5 kmpl.
Honda All New Jazz
The All New Jazz is powered by 1498 cc i-DTEC engine which produces maximum power 100 PS @ 3600 RPM and maximum torque of 200 Nm @ 1750 RPM. The Engine is mated with 6-speed Manual Transmission. The Diesel engine gives a mileage of 26.8 kmpl.
Winner
If you need performance, then All New Jazz is a better option in diesel engine, better power, torque, mileage & it comes up with a 6-speed transmission.
Design (Exterior)
When it comes to Exterior design, Baleno looks much better and premium as compared to Honda Jazz & Elite i20.
Maruti-Suzuki Baleno
The Maruti-Suzuki Baleno is based on a new design concept of Liquid Flow, which is a combination of curves, styling, performance and premium experience. The Baleno boast Powerful projector headlamps, 16” alloy wheels, Outer rear weatherstrip made of stainless steel and chrome to give the premium look, chrome grille, LED rear combination and Day time running lamps.
Hyundai Elite i20
Hyundai Elite i20 design concept is based on Fluidic 2.0 which is upgraded version of their previous design build concept. The new wraparound headlamps will not only add boldness, but also cast a longer and brighter light beam on the road. Other subtle changes you’ll find is hexagonal grille with chrome element, hood sharp character lines integrated with the front bumper, Turn indicator outside mirrors, Dual tone rear bumper, rear combination lamps, stylish R16 alloy wheels and front fog lamps.
Honda All New Jazz
Honda improved the exterior design with sharp character lines, LED tail and stop lamp, tail gate spoiler, rear micro antenna, 15” sporty alloy wheels, stylish fog lamps and sleek turn indicators on the door mirrors.
Winner
Baleno again looks really good, new Liquid flow design really stands out. People are aware for Elite i20 & Jazz design, Baleno is something fresh in the market and that’s too from India’s most trusted brand.
Interior
Maruti-Suzuki Baleno
The Baleno comes with dark interiors and features Multi Information Display, telescopic steering with tilt adjustment and steering mounted audio & voice controls.
Hyundai Elite i20
The Elite i20 has all the perfect ergonomics, top-quality material and the comforts which make its premium hatchback. The front and rear seat has been redesigned to give good thigh and back support for fatigue free journeys.
Honda All New Jazz
The New Jazz Interior is based on Man Maximum Machine Minimum philosophy that offers you the best-in-segment space and comfort. Just like Baleno, Jazz Interior also features dark interior.
Winner
Draw between Baleno & Jazz! But I leave this to you, I still like dual tone Interior of Elite i20 but the car don’t have hi-tech console & entertainment.
